Facial Cream Ingredients and their purpose.
Matrixyl 3000:
An anti-wrinkling and lifting effect achieved by two ingredients in Matrixyl 3000 matrikines™, Pal_GHK and Pal-GQPR which act in synergy to restore and maintain skin’s youthful appearance – a 45% reduction in wrinkles in 2 months with a 3% solution. Z Crème uses 4%. The matrikines™ are messengers of cutaneous reconstruction and repair. They activate the neosynthesis of extracellular matrix macromecules providing a visible anti-wrinkle efficacy. In otherwords it rebuilds your collagen thereby reducing your wrinkles.
SYN®AKE:
An excellent anti-wrinkle active compound that smoothes mimic wrinkles in a short period creating an age killing effect particularly effective against expression lines. The compound is based on a synthetic tripeptide that mimics the effect of Waglerin 1, a peptide that is found in the venom of the Temple Viper, Tropidolaemus wagleri. Not to worry, I use it and I’m definitely not a snake person.
Argireline:
A mimic of the N-terminal end of SNAP-25 and it competes with the natural protein for a position in the SNARE complex, so it destabilizes its formation, without breaking any of its components. If the SNARE complex is slightly destabilized, the vescle cannot release neurotransmitters. As a consequence, muscle contraction is attenuated and the muscle is relaxed. What it all means in plain English is that your muscles near the skin surface creating your wrinkles relax and a good deal of your wrinkles melt away.
HYASOL-BT Hyaluronic Acid:
The Hyaluronic acid film helps to preserve the principle characteristics of young, healthy skin, such as smoothness, elasticity and tone. In view of its high relative molecular mass the Hyaluronic acid in HYASOL-BT is not absorbed following application to the skin. Instead it forms a thin, light permeable, invisible, visco-elastic surface film. This fixes the moisture on the surface of the skin. In other words it helps your skin look fresh and young.
PEPHA®-CTIVE:
An innovative new approach supplying the skin with new energy from a biotechnologically produced extract of the microalgae Dunaliella salina, which replenishes the energy stores of stressed skin which has lost its initial energy level. PEPHA®-CTIVE also helps protect the mitochondria of the skin cells and keeps it’s functionality from being slowed from stress attacks. The skin becomes more radiant and its natural healthy look is improved.
Vitamin D:
Studies show that besides helping in the prevention of skin cancer, Vitamin D also helps the skin cells telomerase replicate better. Telomerase can play a key role in the anti aging effect. The telomerase shortening mechanism normally limits cells to a fixed number of divisions, and animal studies suggest that this is responsible for aging on the cellular level and sets a limit on lifespans. Telomeres protect a cell’s chromosomes from fusing with each other or rearranging – abnormalities which can lead to cancer – and so cells are normally destroyed when their telomeres are consumed. Biologists speculate that this programmed death of potentially damaged cells reduces the likelihood of cancer but makes aging (and thus death) inevitable. Most cancers are the result of “immortal” cells which have ways of evading this programmed destruction.

Melatonin We have now conducted tests that confirm that melatonin slows the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in mice. In one study, the growth of an aggressive skin cancer (melanoma) was slowed by a factor of five, and its spreading was delayed.Melatonin acts as an antioxidant and its favorite place is being near the nucleus of the cell (where the DNA is stored). Melatonin also special with regard to the power/energy center in cell – the mitochondria. Melatonin helps in telling the mitochondria to start working and any problems caused by that work.
Green Tea Dr. Earl Mindell in his Super Antioxidant Miracle book notes that one of the ways green tea can help you includes acting as a protective safeguard against skin caner.“Researchers at the University of California – Berkeley found that green tea extract was the best at scavenging the deadly hydroxyl radicals.”“Green tea has also been shown to be effective in preventing cancer causing UV (ultraviolet) radiation from mutating the DNA of skin cells. This is a concern because sunscreens do a great job of preventing sunburn, but do very little to block the frequencies of radiation that cause cancer, according to the Lovelace Institutes in Albuquerque, New Mexico.”
Grape Seed and Pine Bark extracts containing proanthocyanidins which are more than 50 times more potent than vitamin E and 20 times more potent than vitamin C. Proanthocyanidins tend to affix themselves both on the inside and outside of cell membranes, especially the cells of blood vessels and connective tissues that are associated with skin and joints that contain collagen, protecting them from free radicals. Dr. Packer in The Antioxidant Miracle notes that pine bark extract also helps with the collagen and helps firm up tissue and reduce wrinkles.“Grape Seed Extract has an Anticancer Effect.” Dr. Liviero L. Puglisi, from the Journal of Fitother (1994), pp. 203-9, regarding the antimutagenic activity of proanthocyanidins from Vitis vinifera said, “proanthocyanidins obtained from Vitis vinifera seeds were investigated in vitro for their antimutagenic effect. They resulted to be strong agents in counteracting spontaneous mutation, both at the mitochondrial and nuclear level of the cells. This effect, at least in part, is due to the antioxidant properties of proanthocyanidins and could be a rational basis for their potential use in chemo prevention of several pathological situations (i.e., cancer). Simply put, what this article demonstrates is that grape seed extract has an anticancer effect.
Squalene (vegetable base) works as an antioxidant that helps ward off radiation induced cell damage and also works a moisturizing agent. Squalene is an odorless and beneficial oil found in the deep sea. A wonderful benefit is squalene helps bring back a healthy appearance and radiance to one’s skin.
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice helps reduce wrinkles and soften skin as well as a healing agent.
Olive Leaf Extract – provides penetrating power, anti-wrinkle and antioxidant support.
Vitamin C – antioxidant properties, helps rebuild collagen and protect skin from sun damage.
Vitamin E – antioxidant properties and cell nourishment.
Sun Block: ZCrème contains Vitamin D and other nutrients that help protect the cells DNA and rebuild any sun damage you might already have. Now get ready for some shocking news.
Basically you probably want to use sunscreens only to prevent sunburn & avoid using sunscreens as much as possible. Why?
1. “FDA is not aware of data demonstrating that sunscreen use alone helps prevent skin cancer.”(FDA 2007). The IARC, The International Agency for Research on Cancer concurs with the FDA’s position. However, there is evidence that sunscreens promote cancer.
2. Using vitamin A, “retinyl palmitate” or “retinol” is begging for a disaster as these promote damaging DNA & photocarcinogenic properties that increase cancerous tumors. (NTP 2000).
3. It gets even worse – among sunscreen users researchers have found increased risk of the skin cancer melanoma. Maybe it because people feel free to fry in the sun longer or perhaps as the sunscreen chemicals break down they promotes cancer.
4. High SPF (sun protection factor) may be meaningless and even cause more damage. Sunburn is a warning sign you’ve been overexposed to the sun – the high SPF factor can lull you into getting more damage as the warning sign – sunburn – is suppressed. So using Neutrogena and Banana Boat with SPF’s of 50 or 100 can be counterproductive and very damaging.
5. Sunscreens decrease your vitamin D levels that need to be created by the sun. Sunshine is the main source of vitamin D in your body. Suppressing vitamin D production by the sun can affect delicate balances in your body and regulates over 1,000 different genes – and by the way vitamin D is shown to be anti-cancer (including breast, ovarian, kidney & colon). Mead 2008
6. Free radical damage from sunscreens can exceed what you would get from the sun as you slather more and more on as the day goes on…
7. Bottom line – there really is no safe sunscreen out there. The wise thing to do is slowly build up your natural defense – i.e., a great tan without getting sunburned.
Or choose between nanomaterial minerals vs disruptors. Hint: minerals better choice.
8. Europe has better sunscreens than the USA
9. Still waiting on the FDA for new insights & guidelines.

Foundation: Shea Butter – one of the world’s best moisturizers full of vital nutrients – this what Chanel is so excited about in their moisturizer.
Preservative: We use as preservatives the esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid which are found naturally in raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. Be sure to read all of this!
Why we do NOT us commercial grapefruit seed extracts – GSE – as a preservative. Studies have found a number of other preservative ingredients in uncontrolled amounts mixed in with the GSE because GSE doesn’t have the preservative power necessary. (Sakamoto S et al, Bull Natl Inst Health Sci, 114, 38-42, 1996). One study that did find GSE unadulterated also showed it had no effective antimicrobial activity. (von Woedtke T et al, Pharmazie, 54, 452-456, 1999).
GSE has compounds known to cause estrogenic activity – safety of GSE in this regard is unknown – but extremely worrisome due to machinations necessary to get any kind preservative power out of it which comes through adulteration.
What’s even worse is benzethonium chloride has been detected in some GSE & is a Class 2 poison (due to its teratogenicity), quaternary ammonium cationic disinfectant. Get this crap in your eyes and you might wind up with corneal lesions (I’m not letting this stuff anywhere near my eyes). It’s so bad oral solutions affect the central nervous system – on the bright side it can lead to depression – the dark side – seizures – and even coma and death! (Budavari S (Ed), The Merck Index, Merck & Co, NJ, 1989); (Swiss Toxicological Information Centre, News, STIC, Univ Zurich, 7-11-2005)
So what we want is something effective with less estrogenic effects than compounds in everyday foods we treasure such as apples, carrots, garlic, beans, potatoes, yams –and that would be the esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which are found naturally in raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries – otherwise known in the trade – stay relaxed – as parabens. Read on.
We can safely use minute amounts of parabens to avoid microbiological activity. As to the cancer scare it – the rumors began with a flawed study in 2004 according to the American Cancer Society & other researchers. So as with eggs scare that eggs are bad for you – after real research eggs are back to being a healthy whole food again. Same with parabens.
After numerous studies over the years parabens are still considered the safest and most effective preservative to use. Which is why I can put ZCreme all around my eyes knowing my eyes will be okay, and I have no worries about the rumors flying about.
A panel of the CIR, which reviews cosmetic ingredient safety (with the FDA participating) looking at safety margins of exposure for infants & women published results on parabens in a December 2005 study – the conclusion – same as the numerous other studies and conclusions – parabens are safe as used in cosmetics. . Our PhDs recommended & we use a combination of parabens and diazolidinyl urea to provide the widest range of preservation power against microorganisms. Using a combination of parabens, allows us to use safe lower levels while increasing preservative power. You will notice in our ingredients list they are listed last – we use as much & little as necessary – that leaves more anti-aging, nourishing nutrients ingredients for my face – and yours!
